About

OUR STORY
After selling a few capsule collections in underground boutiques in New York and Montreal, Judith Desjardins launched her brand BODYBAG by Jude in 1998.

Designed for a clientele frequenting clubs and raves, this new label embodies a reflection on life and death, and the ephemeral nature of existence. It is a hymn to life that aims to make people appreciate the present moment and the beauty that surrounds us as well as to underline the uniqueness of each person and the clothes they wear.
The name ''BODYBAG'' refers directly to the body bag used to carry bodies. In other words, our ''BODYBAG'' is the last piece of clothing we will ever wear, let's wear it with style.
Over time, the brand has evolved into a contemporary brand offering comfortable pieces for young professionals and their lifestyle. A subtle balance between chic and casual, perfectly suited for a stylish daily life.
Entirely designed and manufactured in Montreal, Canada, BODYBAG stands out for its versatility of styles, its flawless and timeless cuts. In addition, the use of premium fabrics and innovative details are the trademark of the brand's structured and feminine style. BODYBAG by Jude, after almost 25 years of hard work, is without a doubt a key figure in the Quebec fashion scene today.

OUR MISSION

A LOCAL FASHION THAT ENCOURAGES LOCAL INDUSTRY:

BODYBAG by Jude garments are entirely designed in Montreal's Mile-End workshop-boutique by Jude and her assistant. The production is made in Montreal and its surroundings in order to support the local industry and its workers. We work with manufacturers who are the best in their know-how. Afterwards, the products are available at the workshop-boutique on Bernard Street and online. They are also distributed in more than 30 boutiques in Canada and a few selected outlets in the United States.

TOP QUALITY RAW MATERIALS:

We strive to find quality fabrics to construct our garments with an emphasis on natural fibers. Many of our fabrics come from Italy, France, the United States and even Canada.

"A fabric should look as good with your eyes closed" -Jude-

It is important for us to choose as many eco-responsible fabrics as possible, in order to minimize our environmental impact. Many of our favorite fabrics are OEKO-TEX certified.

BODYBAG A PHILOSOPHY OF LIFE:

Live the life you dream of and enjoy the present moment, because we never know...

OUR TEAM

JUDITH DESJARDINS "JUDE"
Founder of the brand, Artistic Director and privacy officer

After studying communications at UQAM, Judith Desjardins was guided by a number of coincidences towards one of her first passions: fashion design. It was as an assistant stylist that she first got in contact with the fashion industry before starting to create. In 1998, she launched her first collection, BODYBAG by Jude. More than 20 years later, the brand is still present and Jude is still faithful to the position to share her passion. Her determination, creativity and business sense have carried her through all these years. With her atelier-boutique located in Montreal's Mile-End, the designer is now one of Quebec's leading fashion designers.

EXTERNAL

CHARLES Grader

The gradation consists of deriving each model from size XS/TP to size XL/TG. At the workshop, we work our patterns in S/P sizes and all by hand on paper. Charles digitizes each pattern of our different styles, then grades them in the different sizes. Subsequently, he prepares the cut plan of each style in cut placement to minimize fabric waste.

CUTTER TEAM Cutters

With the cutting plan prepared by Charles, the cutting team cuts each of our garments with meticulous care. This comes in all sizes and in each of their color combinations.

PRODUCTION TEAM Seamstresses

Once the pieces are cut, each one is meticulously assembled in different sewing workshops located in Montreal and its surroundings. Once the assembly is complete, each style is pressed and delivered to our workshop/boutique where we take the time to carry out a quality control on each garment.
